The Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX) and LRNG are excited to continue to offer skill-building learning experiences, called Playlists, to support youth with summer job skills. These experiences are offered through the LRNG platform. When youth successfully complete Playlists, they will earn digital badges, which are like digital certificates to represent a learning achievement. At the end of the summer, youth can also earn badges for demonstrating work-ready skills.

CLX has developed the following resources to support your successful implementation:

• How to Use Your Badges
  Help your youth share their badges, create portfolios of their learning achievements, and talk about their skills recognized by their badges.
• OSC SYEP and PLUS Playlists Facilitator’s Guide
  A guide to OSC SYEP and PLUS playlist requirements. Designed for front-line staff working with youth including additional information about playlists and badges, along with suggested activities that you can facilitate in conjunction with playlist.
• OSC Chicagobility Facilitator Guide
  A guide to Chicagobility playlist requirements. Designed for front-line staff working with Chicagobility youth including additional information about playlists and badges, along with suggested activities that you can facilitate in conjunction with playlist.
• Monitoring Youth Progress on LRNG

The Economic Awareness Council (EAC) is a Chicago based non-profit organization whose mission is to prepare students and families in need for the economic and financial decisions they will make both today and tomorrow. The EAC provides online, in-person and print financial capability resources to all One Summer Chicago partners.

The EAC provides several supports to One Summer Chicago detailed below:

• Request an in person visit with a peer financial educator (or Money Mentor) and a financial institution representatives or banker via this link. Youth have the opportunity to open bank accounts and enroll in direct deposits at many of these visits if they have a State ID and Social Security Number. If youth need help obtaining a State ID, please check out this resource.
• Once your Banking Visit is on our request list, you are encouraged to check the listing for accuracy and to see which partners will be attending and their contact information in the case any additional instructions are necessary. Check your listing via this link.
• Youth may also be directed to visit a bank or financial institution on their own via our bank locator at GetBankedChicago.com.
• If you have any questions about how earnings and savings will impact any youth’s benefits, please check out these resources.
• Need resources for online activities youth can do from home during the shelter in place. This resource list also includes information about the stimulus payments that many young adults and parents qualify for as well as other tips for families in need at this time.
• Youth are also asked to learn more about managing their first paycheck and other financial skills via the One Summer Chicago playlists at lrng-osc.org. First year OSC youth are asked to complete Be Pay Day Ready. Second year youth are asked to complete Be Budget Ready OR Be Credit Ready. Third year youth are expected to complete Be Budget Ready OR Be Credit Ready. Fourth year youth are expected to complete Be Ready to Avoid Payday Loans.

• Use Reflection Stations to Bring Youth Survey to Life
  AFTER youth finish the Youth Survey, create reflection stations using survey questions as prompts. Simply put these mini-posters around the room. Have youth move from station to station and discuss impacts related to the discussion prompt. Example: For “I gained Valuable Skills”, youth would share what skills they gained this summer.
